Barbara J. (Berntsen) Metz, age 66, formerly of Hermantown, passed away on Jan. 17, 2010, after a courageous fight with cancer. She was an inspiration to many with her optimistic attitude, kind spirit and love for her family and friends.

Preceded in death by father Walter Berntsen. Survived by husband Lee; children Ken (Kelly), Karen (Jeff) Hady and Dave Metz; mother Elsie Berntsen; sister Cindy (Mark) Fagerstrom; brothers Rog (Ev), Dale (Nancy) and Bob (Jill) Berntsen. A memorial service was held on Thursday, Jan. 21, at White Funeral Home in Apple Valley.
